Our Vision, Objectives and Approach

Our Approach

Given the size of the population in Vietnam (over 96 million) it was perceived that we would only achieve our aims and objectives by adopting a ‘Train the Trainer’ approach to teaching water safety and swimming.   This is a cornerstone of our operations and ensures that the knowledge and skill level is retained in Vietnam when our trainers leave the local community, thus ensuring sustainability.

As appropriate, local Vietnamese teachers qualify for an internationally recognised Water Safety Swim Instructors certificate issued by AUSTSWIM (Australia) or a WSV Teacher of Water Safety and Swimming certificate which is based on AUSTSWIM but modified for local conditions.

It is proposed to expand our programs in other Provinces once we can be sure that programs already in place can 'stand alone' and be maintained by local staff and organisations.

Our Vision

  • To assist to significantly reduce the drowning toll in Vietnam.

  • To further promote the opportunity for all Vietnamese children to learn water safety, swimming and survival skills to survive in a range of aquatic environments.

Our Objectives

  • To further promote public awareness of the importance of water safety and swimming  to all Vietnamese people.

  • To develop water safety and swimming instructional programs in Vietnam.

  • To train local instructors to teach water safety, rescue, swimming and water survival skills.

  • To have all children acquire water survival and foundation swimming skills.

  • To promote the development of suitable swimming and water safety venues-both enclosed and at natural venues.

  • To encourage the inclusion of water safety and swimming in the curriculum of the national education system.
